Jefferson House

Jefferson House Apartments provides housing for applicants who are either 55 years or older or disabled. Residents pay 30% of adjusted gross income for rent & utilities. Income and eligibility restrictions apply.

This six-story elevated brick building, consists of 115 1-bedroom apartments. Each of the apartments contains a galley-style kitchen, a bathroom, living room, and bedroom.  Each apartment contains an electric stove, refrigerator, and emergency pull-cords in the bedroom and bathroom. Gas hot water with individual apartment controlled heat and hot water are included in the rent. The apartments have sleeve air conditioning.
The building is accessed by the lobby entrance with a buzzer entry system and closed circuit television cameras. There is a lobby on each floor of the building with tables, chairs, and a couch. The facility offers balconies on both the 3rd and 6th floors for residents to enjoy the view of Macomb. A community room with full kitchen is available on the first floor to all residents.
The building has an electronic card-reader operated laundry facility on the 6th floor with five washers and four dryers, and a paved parking lot at the rear of the building for 46 cars. Public transportation stops right outside our door and makes it easy and convenient to enjoy the local attractions, such as WIU events, The Bailey House, art galleries, community theaters, and The Forum music concerts. Macomb has great annual events, such as jazz festivals and heritage days, that draw attendees from surrounding communities. There is plenty of opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors at local recreation areas such as Argyle Lake State Park, Lakeview Nature Center, and Spring Lake Park.
