We’ve Got News!

March 22 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

The Western Illinois Museum is holding its Annual Meeting of members on Thursday, March 22, 2018. All members and those interested in becoming members are invited to attend. Doors open at 6:30 pm and the program will begin at 7:00 pm.

The program, We’ve Got News! will be held on the museum’s indoor program space called, Our Front Porch. This newly designed exhibit area is the perfect place to catch up with all our friends. Come and sit a spell, catch up on what’s new and let us tell you about what the future holds for the museum. Of course, sweet tea and Doris Carman’s famous pies will be served.

This year’s program will include a look back 100 years when letters from the front brought news about our boys fighting in the Great War. A selection from the museum’s collection of letters from enlisted WWI men will be read revealing insights about their thoughts, challenges and concerns about those back home. Artifacts from the collection will complement the reading bringing insight to these historic times.
As part of the program, a brief overview of the museum’s new strategic priorities will be presented. Members will be given the opportunity to share their thoughts about the future direction of the museum. Guests will be able to use the suggested donation of $5 or more donation for the program to vote for ideas they believe will most benefit the museum’s future.

The Western Illinois Museum is located at 201 South Lafayette Street in Macomb. For more information, contact the museum at 309.837.2750 or
